About the Radiologist
Dr. Jonathan Davis, D.O. is an Alabama native who graduated from Hewitt Trussville High School in 1992. He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nuclear Medicine Technology from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 1996. He completed medical school at the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in 2001. He came back to Birmingham for his internship and residency with Baptist Health Systems from 2001 to 2005, and completed his final year as a Chief Resident in 2006.
Dr. Davis started out as a Monitor Tech at St. Vincent’s East right out of high school. From there he went on to be a Nuclear Medicine Technologist and then the Assistant Director of Nuclear Medicine of the Baptist Heath Systems Diagnostic Radiology Program. In 2006 he became the Chief Radiology Resident and then became a Staff Radiologist with Birmingham Radiological Group. He is currently the acting Chair for the BRG St. Vincent’s East Division, the Medical Director for St. Vincent’s East Outpatient Center, the Trussville Radiation Safety Officer at St. Vincent’s East, and adjunct clinical staff for ACOM and Radiology Rotation Director. Dr. Davis is American Board of Radiology Certified, holds an Alabama Osteopathic medical license, is Nuclear Medicine Technology Board Certified, is a member of the American Roentgen Ray Society, a MASA member, American Board of Radiologist Diplomat, and an American College of Radiology Diplomat.
Through the years Dr. Davis has come to realize that he has a great love for teaching and watching students engage and grow in their knowledge and abilities. Because of this he has spent significant time teaching. He is currently a staff lecturer for Baptist Health Centers Diagnostic Radiology Residency program for Nuclear Medicine. He is a lecturer for St. Vincent’s East Family Practice Residency, and an Attending Radiologist for Medical student rotations at St. Vincent’s East.
When not in the hospital, you can find him and his wife running their Equestrian Hunter/Jumper Dressage Breeding farm. (www.covespringsfarm.com) He also enjoys hiking, cycling, and is a home recording music enthusiast.
